Full Journal pdf2004-05-05 House Journal Page 3855 SB 358 The following was read the second time: SENATE BILL NO. 358 "An Act relating to the performance of railroad track construction work for the Department of Transportation and Public Facilities by the Alaska Railroad Corporation." with the: Journal Page HB 529 SIMILAR BILL 3390 RLS RPT 4DP 3NR 3834 FN1: ZERO(CED) 3834 Amendment No. 1 was offered by Representative Kohring: Page 1, line 3, following "Corporation" (title amendment): Insert "; authorizing a long-term lease of certain Alaska Railroad Corporation land at Anchorage that is the subject of Alaska Railroad Contract No. 8371; and providing for an effective date" Page 1, following line 13: Insert new bill sections to read: "* Sec. 2. The uncodified law of the State of Alaska is amended by adding a new section to read: APPROVAL OF THE LEASE OF LAND AT ANCHORAGE. (a) The Alaska Railroad Corporation is authorized to lease certain corporation land at Anchorage, Alaska, within Township 13 North, Range 3 West, Section 8, Seward Meridian, that is the subject of Alaska Railroad Contract No. 8371 for a period in excess of 55 years but not more than 75 years without reserving the right to terminate the lease. 2004-05-05 House Journal Page 3856 (b) This section constitutes legislative approval under AS 42.40.285(4) for the Alaska Railroad Corporation to lease the land described in (a) of this section for a period in excess of 55 years but not more than 75 years without reserving the right to terminate the lease if the land is needed for railroad purposes. * Sec. 3. Section 2 of this Act takes effect immediately under AS 01.10.070(c)." Representative Kohring moved and asked unanimous consent that Amendment No. 1 be adopted. Representative Dahlstrom objected. The question being: "Shall Amendment No. 1 be adopted?" Representative Coghill moved and asked unanimous consent that SB 358 be considered engrossed, advanced to third reading, and placed on final passage. There being no objection, it was so ordered.
